In the last assignment this week was: You have to design packaging for rice. The packaging has to be different from what is out there in the market. Apply each one of the SCAMPER techniques and do a write-up on your findings. Then choose the option that you think would work best and do a sketch of what the packaging would look like.
This gave me many ideas and I ended up with a one portion rice package for Single People with soy. And this is how I used the SCAMPER model to get to my result.
Traditional rice packages is packaged in boxes made of carton or plastic bags. My rice package substitutes this with eco-friendly recyclable carton that can be put right into the microwave oven, and used as a dish.
I’ve combined the rice package with soy. The top of my triangle contains the soy sauce that you can add to your rice after heating it up.
This packaging uses its shape to act as both a container for the rice and soya sauce, in addition to being the dish.
By making the product triangular I modify the design. It looks more oriental and makes stacking for transport easy
It is one person only portion, so this makes it easy for people on the go to eat. Heat and eat on the go! I removed the original package and made it triangular. This made it easy to stack and eco-friendly by saving space when it’s shipped around the world.
I have eliminated the big portions by making it smaller, for one person only. We live in a modern world, and there are a lot of people on the go, and there are single people, elderly and students that don’t need to buy big portions.
The rice package is triangle, and in the top you have the soy sauce. The package can be split into two pieces, and then you turn the half pyramid upside down and remove the lid and put it right into the microwave. The soy sauce can be added by removing a small piece of the top, and there you have it.
This is how you would stack the rice packages in transport.
